Marijane Mitchell has served as an epidemiologist at the Connecticut Department of Public Health (CDPH) in the Office of Health Equity, Community Health and Prevention Section since 2012. She conducts several health equity and data quality projects in the Surveillance and Reporting Unit. She also conducts primary care workforce, maternal and child health, and school health survey projects.

Ms. Mitchell serves as a member of the Employee Advisory Committee of the CDPH Affirmative Action/ Equal Employment Opportunity Office and as a delegate of the Service Employees International Union, District 1199. She was a contributor to several CDPH reports that addressed racial/ethnic health disparities and a principal author of CDPH health database compendiums in 2010 and 2012. These compendiums referenced specific publications and reports that included information on race/ethnicity.

Ms. Mitchell majored in epidemiology and received her MS in public health from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She was honored as an emeritus member of the American Public Health Association in 2012 after 40 years of continuous service. Her previous positions included Director of Health for the city of New London and Executive Director of Expanded Health Services for the Community Health Center in New London.
