Chris Chanyasulkit has a passion and dedication to ending health disparities and creating a more just society. Governor Deval Patrick appointed her to serve as a commissioner on both the Massachusetts Asian American Commission and the Commission on the Status of Women. In these roles, she advocates for the needs of Asian Americans and women throughout the commonwealth.

Dr. Chanyasulkit serves as a Human Services Specialist in the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations at the Brookline Department of Public Health. She also serves as the Tuberculosis Research Program Manager at Vaccine Technologies, Inc. She joined AmeriCorps and assisted nonprofit organizations in developing and maintaining technological competency in the administration and delivery of services.

Dr. Chanyasulkit earned a BA from Boston University with dual majors in biology and art history. She earned an MPH from the Boston University School of Public Health with a concentration in maternal and child health care. She earned a PhD from Northeastern University in political science, with a concentration in public policy, and conducted research on health disparities. She currently teaches U.S Government and Politics at Bentley University. She previously worked in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health for over 10 years and taught courses at Northeastern University and Babson College.

Dr. Chanyasulkit serves as a co-chair or member of several local, state and national boards:

  • Brookline Medical Reserve Corps 
  • Brookline Asian American Family Network Steering Committee 
  • Institute for Asian American Studies Community Advisory Board at the University of Massachusetts, Boston 
  • Mentor Mom for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Parent Connection Program 
  • Education Board (chair), Joint Policy Committee (co-chair) and Executive Board member of the American Public Health Association 
Dr. Chanyasulkit lives with her husband and three children in Brookline, Massachusetts.
